About
Daniel Schumacher came to Birmingham via New York City to work as the assistant food editor for Cottage Living. Nearly three years later, he has broadened his skills as a writer, editor, recipe developer, and restaurant consultant by working with a wide range of publications and clients.
As the assistant food editor of Cottage Living, he worked with best-selling author Kim Sunée editing recipes and producing stories. When on the road, he was constantly on the lookout for exciting new products, unique stories, and taco trucks. Daniel found more of the former than the latter.
Previously he had consulted in the editorial departments of Gourmet Magazine and Food Arts. While contracting with those publications, he further developed his deep and thorough knowledge of food and emerging digital media platforms. In 2006 he launched The Gourmetro and worked with Curbed Networks on their popular EaterNY blog.
Most recently, Daniel has written and produced content for local and Southern regional magazines and provided business development and media consulting services for area restaurants. He is versed in harnessing the power of social media to further brand goals and improve consumer participation.
